Mologic is an active partner in the €3.5 million MASSTRPLAN consortium, an EU Horizon 2020 innovative training network for lipoxidation research.

Lipoxidation – the modification of proteins by reactive lipid oxidation products – is important because it is implicated in various inflammatory diseases. Mologic is keen to explore the commercial possibilities for developing diagnostic technologies to monitor inflammatory disease status via lipoxidation products.

Fourteen early stage researchers are participating in MASSTRPLAN. One of these researchers, Isabel Pinto from Lisbon, has been working at Mologic for a year. She is registered for an external PhD at Aston University with Prof. Corinne Spickett.

Isabel presented a poster on her progress at the International 4-Hydroxynonenal (HNE) Club meeting in Graz, Austria. The poster was titled “Detecting lipoxidation: diagnostic tools for translation and commercial application.”
